Day 8 and 9–Budapest

Here are a couple of night pictures of the famous ‘Chain Bridge’ and a few more Pest downtown pictures of a market and their shopping district.

The next group of pictures are from the Buda side where we had explored the Buda Castle, had lunch on the top of the hill, visited a winery and museum with underground caves. During the war, WWII, the caves were used for many purposes including a hospital.  Views of the Church and the River Danube were always beautiful.  And how about those pretzels?????

We are headed home now and hope you have enjoyed traveling with us.  It has been a fabulous adventure.  See you next trip.

We had two wonderful dinners and great food.

Day 7–Budapest, Hungary

We arrived at 9:00am to the amazing sites of Budapest.  The right bank of the river is Buda and the left bank is Pest – a fact we didn’t know.  Buda offers the best views and Pest is the more modern metropolis.  Pest is a combination of the old history and the the modern high end shopping.

The first two pictures are what we first sights as we arrived.  On the tour we stopped at ‘Hero’s Square’ and it was huge as were the amazing statues.  You can also see all the tourist buses lined up.  Lots of people everywhere.  There is also a picture of a yellow land/water bus that looks sort of silly out there in the Danube.

We then toured over to the Buda side where we explored the areas of the Matthias Church (amazing) and the Fisherman’s Bastion.  We walked around and were in awe of it all.

In the afternoon we drove for about an hour out of town to a Hungarian Horse Farm for a wonderful and exciting horse show with the beautiful Lipizzaner horses.  I even got to take a short ride.  How fun was that!  Wish were were with me Anne.

Then back to the “Legend’ for our final night on board and packing for departing and moving over to the Hilton Budapest Hotel for our extended two days before returning home.  The hotel is next to the Matthias Church so views will be great.
